Alex Rekas

Growing up, I was always taking things apart — electronics, toys, anything I could get my hands on — trying to understand why they were built the way they were. That curiosity led me to industrial design, where I fell in love with the way people’s stories shape the objects they use. The emotional bond between a person and a well-designed thing became an obsession, and it eventually pulled me into UX — where I get to do the same work, just on a screen.

Today I’m a Design Lead and Product Designer based in Richmond, VA, with 12+ years of experience building digital products across healthcare, government, and enterprise software. I own design systems, lead research, and work closely with engineering to turn complex problems into interfaces that actually make sense to the people using them.

Outside of work, you’ll find me on the golf course or the soccer field, hunting for good coffee, or planning the next trip somewhere new.
